Cromer is a seaside resort and is particularly famous for its crabs and lobsters. The tower of the church, dating back to the 15th century was once used as a lighthouse. The beaches between Cromer and West Runton are also good places to hunt for fossils and children can delight in the rock pools that can be found on the beach at low tide. Family entertainment can be found at the end of the pier show. In recent years a number of new galleries have opened selling original art and sculptures by local artists.
Sheringham is also renowned for the crab fishing trade and it is a much quieter resort with beautiful sandy beaches and rock pools. In the town, there are traditional fisherman's cottages in addition houses dating back to Edwardian and Victorian times. There are many individual shops including, craft shops and boutiques to tempt you. Plus a very unusual clock and of course, the National Trust's Sheringham Park - some 770 acres of forest and parkland with stunning sea views.
Wells is a smaller port where the boats unload their catches of shrimps and whelks every day. There is a wonderful stretch of beach once the tide goes out and the narrow cobbled streets are lined with very interesting shops and traditional fishermens cottages.
Hunstanton is a popular resort with a large sandy beach and shallow water and is the only resort on the east coast from which you can watch the sun set over the sea. There are many activities as you would expect from this seaside town including the Sealife centre.
The fishing village of Old Hunstanton with
its flint, cottages and its fifteenth century church is much quieter than
the main resort but certainly worth a visit.
